About

Who We Are

The mission of Border Star Montessori School is to prepare the learner for life in a diverse educational and social environment. Each child will be encouraged to become a self-motivated learner and develop qualities of order, concentration, and independence.

We are a fully-accredited Montessori pre-K through 6th grade Signature school, comprised of a diverse student population from a wide array of KCMO neighborhoods. Border Star Montessori offers a variety of enriching extracurricular activities (including an award-winning chess club). Before- and after-school care is provided by the Local Investment Commission (LINC).

Pre-K program serves students ages 3-5 and promotes independent learning and exploration to provide students the tools needed to enter Kindergarten ready to learn and to help your child grow as a lifelong learner. Students must be three or four years old on or before July 31 to qualify for Pre-K.

What We Do

Montessori is an educational approach, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, that emphasizes independence, freedom within limits, and respect for each child's natural development.  Our teachers promote hands-on learning through exploration and discovery.

Develop a life-long love of learning

Children follow their interests, wherever that passion leads. They develop a life-long love of learning through a balance of freedom and responsibility within the classroom.

Freedom to learn at your pace

Our students are in mixed-age groups that offer a variety of activities, enabling children to become peer teachers and learn from helping one another. They have the freedom to work at their own pace and become self-motivated learners.
